Surgery Update

All went well with my surgery. I have had a herniated disc in my back for years, and this was the final straw. Hopefully this will be the thing that fixes it. I've a quite a bit of pain, and have pretty much been "down" since Monday. Luckily I've had great help, and haven't had to do anything. Thanks for your thought and prayers.

I Am Thankful For...(#8)

...Good doctors. Landon and I are heading to Seattle tonight because I'm having a little surgery in the morning. I am so thankful for my surgeon. I love him! I'm grateful for the years he spent in medical school, and for the capable hands I know I'll be in. I should be in a drug induced haze for the next few days, and then I'll be back- Wish me luck!
I should also mention how thankful I am for my mom. She is flying in today to help me with the kids while I have the surgery, and then for several days afterwards! She'll be here for 10 days, and I can't thank her enough. I love you mom!

Driving Ms. Daisy

Let me just start by saying that I consider myself I good driver. I got my license in Utah in October. We then proceeded to have the worst winter in years there. It was baptism by fire! Anyway, I may have been in a fender bender or 2, but not always my fault. I obey the traffic laws, and usually only go 5 miles an hour over the speed limit! Which brings me to the purpose of this rant!

The speed limit in MOST of my beloved Moses Lake, is 30 miles an hour. 30!! Every once in a while it will be 35- It takes me FOREVER to get anywhere. I'm about to lose my mind. I just hope I can still drive with the "big dogs" when I get back to civilization.

AHHHHHH!

So, last night, Landon left to go get Colton from Scouts, the girls are in bed, and I had just settled down to watch American Idol. All of a sudden, I see something scurry across the room. I of coarse FREAK out, and run to turn on the lights. I jump onto the couch, and try to see what the heck it was that just ran across my room. I couldn't find it, so I sat back down and just waited for it to come back. Sure enough, this little fellow comes truckin' back through, into my kitchen, and under my stove!
Are you kidding me??? I call Landon at the church, tell him to get some traps, and procede to be on mouse duty for the next hour until he gets home. Luckily the little guy stayed hidden. Landon and Colton came home and set the traps up. Not 20 minutes later, we had him. Hallelujah. About a half an hour later, we had his friend. We still have the traps up, just in case. I am on complete alert mode, watching every nook and crany of my kitchen now. YUCK!!!!

Alone At Last

I just dropped my kids off at school, and I have the whole day to myself. I haven't had a day to myself for over a week. I've had sick kids at home, and then we all went to Seattle for the week. Landon hasn't had to work since last Thursday! He finally went back this morning. As much as I LOVE LOVE LOVE my family and spending time with them, it's nice to have some alone time. The house is soo quiet, I love it. I have plenty of errands I can go and do, but I think I'll just stay home, curl up with a good book, and enjoy the peace. It only lasts until 3pm, then off to piano, activity days, and scouts!

I Am Thankful For...(#7)

...the sun

I love the sun. I love sunny days. I love being out in the warmth of the sun. I haven't seen the sun a whole lot since we moved here, and I have missed it. The sun has been out a little bit the last few days, and I love it.

Last night we had the most beautiful sunset. It reminded me of the sunsets in Arizona. It also reminded me how much I had missed seeing the sunset!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day! We are in Seattle again this week. Landon had a conference, I have a Dr. appt. and the kids just get to miss school!!

Yesterday we went to the Seattle zoo. It was really cool. There weren't very many people there, so we didn't have to fight the crowds. They have people all throughout the zoo, telling you about the animals.

We are actually staying in Bellevue, which is right outside of Seattle. You have to take these huge bridges to get back to Seattle from here. It's really green and lush up here. Bellevue is very pretty.

I Am Thankful For... (#6)

...Niquil. I have been knocking on deaths door now for about a week! My entire family is and has been sicker than dogs! Sunday night, we started in on the Niquil. Now, I don't usually take Niquil unless I am truly at death's door, because it just knocks me for a loop! Well, Sunday night, I was there. My head is finally starting to clear, and I feel tons better. So, as much as I hate to say it, I am thankful for Niquil. Once again, it saved my life!

You may take 3 giant steps forward...

Today I took 3 GIANT steps towards "normal"!

First off, I went to the library and got myself a library card. Now, this might not seem like a big deal, but there's not a book store here, so the library's my best shot at a good book. (Clearly this picture is a little bit of an exageration!)

Then after that, I literally stumbled onto the parks and rec center. Which I've been needing to find so that I could sign Kennedy up for soccer. It only cost my $25 bucks. Such a deal

Finally, Colton and Whitley started piano lessons yesterday. It wasn't easy finding a good teacher, in a town where you don't know a soul, but I did it. The kids both really liked her (not as well as grandma though) and again, totally cheap. She's charging me $5 bucks a lesson! (sorry mom)

I Am Thankful For... (#5)

...President Gordon B. Hinkley
What an amazing man. I have truly been touched this week, as I've read many of your blogs about our beloved prophet. He was such an awesome leader, and an inspiration to us all. I feel so blessed to have been alive at a time when he was our leader.
It has been really neat this week to get to sit down with our kids, and talk about his life, his work, his many accomplishments, and then what happens next- I am so thankful for a living prophet!

You Know You're a Redneck When...

So I'm upstairs tucking the kids in bed last night, and I can hear Landon "sawing" something in the kitchen. I'm thinking "what in the world is he doing". When I get downstaits this is what I find. He's taken a steak knife, and sawed off the bottom of these water bottles to create this funnel device, and scotch taped the lever down!
Needless to say, there isn't a Water and Ice on every corner up here, and so far we haven't found anywhere to fill up our water jugs. Problem solved!
